NewYork-Presbyterian announced the winners of the InnovateNYP Pediatric App Challenge during Demo Day on June 9th. Sixteen teams spent ten weeks designing and developing a working application that uses technology to improve pediatric healthcare. The winning team was fhirStarters, an application which promotes medication adherence for pediatric patients. Parents can see all of their child’s prescriptions and when their child is supposed to take them, and receive reminders to administer the medications on time. Second place was awarded to Teen Screen, which doubles as a mental health screening application for teenagers between the ages of 12 and 18 and a collaboration device for patients as well as healthcare providers. NYP Care Companion placed third, with a complete chronic care management, engagement, and education application designed for both pediatric patients and their parents.
