Sweta Patel attended the Duke University Medical Center Physician Assistant Program, where she graduated with a Masters of Health Sciences in 2011. After graduation, she joined the New York Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center Hospitalist Service before transitioning to the Neurological Intensive Care Unit in 2013. She has also worked at NYP/Lower Manhattan Hospital and NYU Langone Medical Center working in general medicine, medical ICU, neurosurgery, neurology, and surgical ICU. She was named runner up for Physician Assistant of the Year at CUMC in 2015.
Since 2013, Sweta has been integrating technology into daily clinical practice to enhance clinical care at NYP. She built a provider website for the Neurological ICU, an app allowing providers to easily calculate a complex formula for estimating expected outcomes after subarachnoid hemorrhage, a comprehensive stroke app, and an EEG tutorial app. Sweta is passionate about developing and utilizing technology in healthcare to impact the lives of patients and providers in a meaningful way.
