New York Presbyterian to Launch First Mobile Stroke Treatment Unit

Patch Washington Heights covered the launch of the Mobile Stroke Treatment Unit (MSTU), which leverages technology to allow medical staff to diagnose and even treat stroke patients onsite. The article also explained why saving time is so crucial for stroke care. According to Matthew Fink, MD, “when a stroke occurs, with every minute that passes before we treat, we lose 1.9 million brain cells.” Dr. Matthew Fink is the neurologist-in-chief and chief of the Division of Stroke and Critical Care Neurology at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center and the Louis and Gertrude Feil Professor and chairman of the Department of Neurology at Weill Cornell Medicine.
